About Us

The Diocese of Virac Social Action Foundation, Inc (DVSAFI) is the social action arm of the Roman Catholic Church in Catanduanes. Started in 1974, DVSAFI specializes in community organizing, values formation and credit assistance among the lower 30% of the social strata. It offers relief and rehabilitation services, especially in times of typhoons. Through the Alay Kapwa program, it provides emergency help to victims of disease and other man-made disasters. It coordinates with various government and non-government efforts in fighting poverty in this island. It works in all municipalities in the Province of Catanduanes.

However present programs and projects are no longer of dole out mentality but rather enterprising and self sustaining.

It is registered with Securities and Exchange Commission with Reg# 175716 last April 3, 1990 and is currently affiliated with the National Secretariat for Social Action Justice and Peace (NASSA), Bicol Consortium for Development Initiatives (BCDI), Philippine Misereor Partnership (PMP) Bicol Cluster, Coalition of Bicol Development (CBD), Bicol Regional Social Action Centers (BRSAC), National Movement for Free Election (NAMFREL), Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV)
